Welcoming our new President

  • Paraic Curtis elected to serve as President 2018 – 2019
  • Annual President’s Dinner attended by over 950 people
  • Ibec celebrates 25th year anniversary

Ibec would like to welcome Paraic Curtis as its new President for 2018 – 2019. He is Senior Vice President and General Manager of TE Medical, a leading player in Ireland’s MedTech sector, and succeeds Edel Creely of Trilogy Technologies.

In an address to Ibec’s annual President’s Dinner at the RDS in Dublin on September 20, the President called on Government to introduce measures that promote competitiveness and noted that a particular focus was required on increasing support for the indigenous business sector and higher education.

He outlined how Irish business was very concerned about the lack of investment in infrastructure and education. Higher education needs a plan and some bold moves to address the funding crisis and reputational slide, as evidenced by the recent fall in university rankings.

The President also reiterated the deep concerns of Irish business at the raft of populist, restrictive and short-sighted labour market proposals that have emerged in recent times.

A record 950 guests attended the annual President’s Dinner at which the Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe, was the guest speaker.

The occasion marked the 25th anniversary since the establishment of Ibec in its current form.
